If only 5% with Tehreek, why 7 lakh forces, police can’t contain them: Hurriyat (G)
Reacting to the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s statement that only five percent people are fomenting trouble in Kashmir, the Hurriyat Conference (G) termed it a sheer lie and reflection of her frustration.
“We question you (Mehbooba Mufti) if it is only 5% who are in the movement why your seven lakh forces and one lakh police along with their artillery have failed to contain them. Why you are calling in more and more reinforcement from Delhi,” the statement issued by the pro-freedom faction read. “You have called in army for controlling even the streets, disbanding the public meetings and processions. Your forces don’t allow people to move around during the relaxation time. You have surpassed all the previous records and put the whole valley under siege of tight curfew for more than 46 days. Offices are closed, roads and markets are deserted”.
The pro-freedom party said that the armed forces were crushing the movement with heavy hand. “You have deployed your trustworthy killers and district executives to pressurize the people to break their will and zest for freedom. Millions of people are on streets, 72 people have lost their lives, hundreds are getting blinded, thousands have undergone surgeries in hospitals in last 45 days, thousands have been injured and hundreds slapped with PSA,” Hurriyat G said adding that the whole valley had come to a stand still.
“Only an insane can call it a handiwork of a few miscreants. You along-with your Delhi mentors are in a denial mode and as Delhi people have turned deaf and dumb to the ground realities. You too toe the same line otherwise your own people even army officers appeal every section of people including resistance forum to come forward for peace”.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat has condemned the role of Police and PDP activists who threaten the shopkeepers not to follow the programme of resistance leadership and they will be dealt with accordingly.
Hailing the role of factory owners especially cement factories, the spokesman appealed to the people to defer the construction work and concentrate on ongoing movement as it is gaining momentum with each passing day.
Condemning the arrest of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leaders especially Abdul Qayoom Wani and his associates, the spokesman said, “The employees are a part and parcel of our society and they have rendered full support to the ongoing movement.” On the reports that some banks remain open during the day time, Hurriyat spokesman cautioned them not to isolate themselves from the present struggle. “By doing so you are playing in the hands of collaborators and nation will never allow you to do so,” the spokesman added.
