The Chief Minister said this after girl students organised a demonstration outside her Gupkar residence, demanding reopening of schools and holding of examinations.
“We have decided to hold examinations on time, but keeping in view the difficulties faced by students, there will be relaxation in syllabus as they have not completed it yet,” she said.
The Chief Minister said they would try to give every possible help to the students who had suffered academic loss during the current unrest.
“We will try to hold tuition classes at government schools before examinations and request teachers to help students in preparation. We don’t want a year to be wasted,” she said.
“We appeal to parents to cooperate in improving the situation. Schools should be opened and education should continue,” she said.
The protesting girl students who interacted with her demanded that the government should provide them Scooties on subsidy.
“Jammu students got Scooties. We should be given those as well. Why is our future being destroyed? Schools and colleges should be opened. We want our future to be secure,” said Humaira, a protester.
“We are not able to study. Students should get their rights. We want to continue studies. The rich continue their studies. It’s the poor who die and are at a loss. We want peace,” she said.
