216 killed in 7 months; including 132 militants, 41 civilians, 43 forces personnel

Year 2017 is turning out to be one of the most violent years in Jammu and Kashmir as 216 persons have so far been killed in the state in the past seven months in different violent incidents.
The comparison with 2016 shows that there has been around 100 percent increase in militancy related incidents as the previous year had recorded 133 deaths till August end.

The data available with security establishment accessed by Kashmir Post states that till August 9, 216 persons have been killed in J&K in militancy related incidents. Among them are 132 militants, 41 civilians and 43 armed forces personnel.
June has witnessed highest number of killings with 48 persons being killed including three civilians, 15 armed forces personnel and 30 militants.
The month of June, data says, is followed by July that has recorded 38 killings that include 10 civilians, one armed forces personnel and 27 militants.

In May, 37 killings include 10 civilians, 10 armed forces personnel and 17 militants. In February, 23 killings occurred that included three civilians, nine armed forces personnel and 11 militants.
April recorded 18 killings that included five civilians, five armed forces personnel and eight militants.
March saw 16 killings that included four civilians, one armed forces personnel and 11 militants.
First nine days of August witnessed 16 killings that include two civilians, two armed forces personnel and 15 militants.
The official figures also reveal that over 190 militancy related incidents have so far been reported till August 8 while there were about 155 incidents last year during the same period.
