6000 Transit accommodations to be set up for migrant Pandits in Kashmir: Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, Tuesday said 6000 transit accommodations would be set up for migrant Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and claimed that Rohingya Muslims living in country could pose security threat to India.
“Pakistan is regularly resorting to border ceasefire violations and I feel Pakistan is not showing interest in improving relations with India,” Singh told a press conference on conclusion of his 4day visit to the State.
He said army and BSF men were giving a befitting reply to Pakistani troops. “We will create such conditions that they Pakistan will be forced to stop ceasefire violation sooner or later”.
Singh said since 2014, Pakistan has resorted to over 400 ceasefire violations every year. “This has to be stopped by Pakistan”.
Reaching out to people living in border areas, he said, “The country is proud of the border dwellers and they are a strategic asset for India”.
“If there is any biggest strategic asset of India, it is the Indian citizens living along the borders of the country. It is the biggest strategic asset of India. If we get strategic successes, it is because of your contribution,” he said.
Singh said the Government of India (GoI) has decided to set up an expert group to study the problems and challenges of the people living along the border.
“This expert group or study group will give its opinion and we will act on that,” he said.
He said 60 bunkers have been built and a decision has been taken by the government to construct more bunkers.
He said the government has increased the compensation for those who get killed in ceasefire violations from Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh.
He announced that GoI has decided to construct 6000 transit accommodation for migrant Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
“The GoI has also decided to give 3000 jobs to migrants Pandits from Valley and Rs 1080 crores have been sanctioned to the state under this head,” Singh said.
The Home Minister also announced that the government has also allocated a package of Rs 2000 crores for the rehabilitation of PaK migrants.
He said the disbursal of payment to the migrants under the package has been linked to Aadhaar.
“We have adopted a humane approach towards the migrants and displaced people. However, we are strongly against illegal immigration,” Singh said.
He further said GoI was trying to give equitable development to all the 3 regions of J&K.
During his 4-day visit to the state, Rajnath met over 70 delegations comprising leaders of political parties, traders, civil society members, NGOs, youth, artists, Kashmiri Pandit groups, etc.
He also met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and reviewed security situation of the state during a security review meeting with top security officials in Srinagar.
