Three attacks in 24 hours, Woman shot dead, another hurt in militant attack in Tral

Unidentified gunmen killed a woman and injured another in Seer village of Tral area in Pulwama district on Sunday, even as a CRPF man was injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade towards the residence of a National Conference leader in the township. In another attack in Tral, the house of a police officer was ransacked last night.
An official said that Yasmeena, daughter of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Khanmoh Srinagar, was killed and Ruby Jan, wife of Muhammad Shafi Wagay of Seer injured when they were talking inside a house and a few masked gunmen entered inside and fired upon them.
Ruby was shifted to sub-district hospital Tral in a critical condition but was instantly referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Immediately after the attack, government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants.
Confirming the attack, superintendent of police Awantipora, Muhammad Zahid Malik claimed that militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad was behind the attack.
“Noor Muhammad, a Jaish militant, is mastermind behind the attack,” he alleged.

Police Officer House Ransacked
Suspected militants ransacked the house of a police officer in Batagund village of Tral township in Pulwama district on Saturday night.
A police official said that militants vandalised the house of assistant sub-inspector Ghulam Ahmad Bhat at around 10 pm.
“Few masked gunmen entered our house and vandalised property. Our family members, including my father, immediately fled from the house,” said Suhail Ahmed, the son of Ghulam Ahmad.
Soon after the incident, government forces rushed to the spot and conducted searches to nab the assailants.

CRPF Man Injured In Grenade Blast
A Central Reserve Police Force man was injured on Sunday after suspected militants lobbed a rifle grenade at the residence of National Conference leader Muhammad Ashraf Bhat in Tral township of Pulwama district.
An official said that the grenade was lobbed at the residence of Baht in Hamami Mohalla on Sunday afternoon.
“A CRPF man, identified as ASI SK Naval Ali of 180 BN was injured in the explosion,” he said, adding that he was shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Talking to Kashmir Post, NC leader Bhat said that he was inside his house when the grenade was hurled. “Unfortunately ASI of CRPF was injured in the attack,” he said.
