Abdul Haq Khan offers to resign if proven corrupt in MGNREGA Scam

Minister of State for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan today offered to resign if the allegations of corruption against him were proved right in a Centrally sponsored scheme.
He said this in response to the allegations levelled by Congress MLA from Banihal Waqar Rasool Wani over ‘unfairly’ distribution of money to waive the liability under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
As soon as the proceedings of the J&K Legislative Assembly began, Wani raised the issue of Ramban district being ignored financially to wave the MGNREGA liability. “There is Rs-9 crore liability of the MGNREGA in Ramban district even as labourers under this scheme are to be given the money within 15 days of their work. Other districts are getting crores of rupees under this scheme while my district has been ignored,” Wani said.
“There is proof of corruption and malpractices in the Rural Development Department and everyone is hand in glove in this,” he said, adding, “Order a probe into the advertisement scam and if the minister is not found involved, I will resign.”
Reacting to this statement, Khan had a verbal duel with Wani and asked him to prove these allegations. Later, while talking to the media, the minister said, “I will resign if the allegations are proven against me.”
