Army takes months, RSS can prepare a force within 3 days to fight on border: Mohan Bhagwat

  • RSS will prepare military personnel within three days which the Army would do in 6-7 months said Mohan Bhagwat
  • Rahul Gandhi seeks apology from RSS for ‘insulting’ remarks on Indian Army

Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the organization has the ability to prepare an “army” to fight for the country within three days, if such a situation arises.
The RSS chief said this while addressing the workers at Zila school ground on the last day of his six-day visit of Muzaffarpur.
“Sangh will prepare military personnel within three days which the Army would do in 6-7 months. This is our capability. Swayamsewak will be ready to take on the front if the country faces such a situation and Constitution permits to do so),” Bhagwat said.
Sangh is neither a military nor a para military organisation, rather it is like a “parivarik sangathan” (family organisation) where discipline is practised like the Army, he said adding that workers are always happily ready to make supreme sacrifice for their country.
Bhagwat exhorted the RSS workers to set an example of good conduct in their personal, family and social life.

Meanwhile, Congress President Rahul Gandhi today slammed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for his “disrespectful” comments against Indian Army.
In a scathing tweet, Gandhi demanded apology from RSS after Bhagwat questioned “preparedness of Indian Army to fight enemies at border”.
“Shame on you Mr Bhagwat, for disrespecting our martyrs and our Army,” read his tweet.
Using hashtag “#ApologizeRSS”, the Gandhi scion further tweeted, “The RSS chief’s speech is an insult to every Indian, because it disrespects those who have died for our nation. It is an insult to our flag because it insults every soldier who ever saluted it.”
Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani and patidar activist Hardik Patel too joined Gandhi in attacking Bhagwat.
“RSS is an army of underwear clad men who spark riots in country. I urge Bhagwat to go sell pakodas across country so that Modi can give government jobs to youth of our country,” Mevani tweeted.
Whereas Mevani’s colleague Patel said “no one needs to learn patriotism” from Bhagwat.
Bhagwat had stirred a row on Sunday after he compared Sangh cadre with Indian Army personnel.
“Despite not being a military organization, Sangh can prepare military personnel within three days which the Army normally takes months to do. This is our capability,” said Bhagwat, speaking at an RSS function in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
“If the nation requires, and our constitution permits, the RSS is ready to go to border and fight for country’s safety,” he added.
