No threat to coalition, Govt will run without Drabu: Avinash Rai

Day after CM Mehbooba Mufti sacked finance minister Haseeb Drabu, Bharatiya Janta Party leadership has summoned its senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi to discuss the possible repercussions on the alliance.
“The leadership has been summoned by the party high command to New Delhi,” a senior BJP leader told Kashmir Post on the basis of anonymity. He said that Drabu’s removal has put a question mark on the future of interlocution between BJP and PDP.

He said that coming years were crucial because of general elections in 2019 and J&K state assembly polls in 2020. “During the meeting in New Delhi things will be discussed threadbare,” he said.
Drabu, he said, along with late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed had played a pivotal in the crafting of common agenda for the PDP-BJP alliance in the state. “Drabu managed to weave the alliance twice in the last three years,” he said adding that sensitivities of things have to be analyzed. “Future has to be secured.”
However, BJP state vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna told Kashmir Post, “There is no threat to government.” Rai is also BJP in-charge of Jammu & Kashmir.

“Persons perform with the help of party. Drabu is person, not the party. There is no need to create confusion, the government will run without Drabu,” he said.
Khanna also termed sacking of Drabu as an internal matter of PDP. He said chief minister has discretion to drop or retain any minister.
