Land Row: JCCI requested PM Modi to sack Assembly Speaker Nirmal Singh

Jammu’s premier trade body, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sack Assembly Speaker Nirmal Singh for saying “army was harassing people”.
“Chamber feels that a person holding the second highest constitutional post in the state of J&K and speaking against the credentials of Indian army by such irresponsible utterances is not in national interest,” reads the letter signed by JCCI president Rakesh Gupta and other officer bearers.
The letter said the Chamber will always stand by the army in “any given situation and shall not tolerate such statement from anyone whosoever it may be”.
It said Nirmal has “brought bad name not only to the pride of Dogras but has also to the political party he belongs to”.
The Chamber requested the PM to “sack him from holding this prestigious post and also from the party”.

Nirmal Singh recently accused the army of harassing people in Ban village of Nagrota area and not “letting them construct even a toilet”. His remarks came after the army asked him to stop construction of his under-construction house near an ammunition depot in the village, calling it illegal and a potential security threat.
