Shutdown against civilian killings today: Joint Resistance Leadership

Expressing concern over resumption of Operation All-Out and CASOs in Kashmir which has resulted in killing of four civilians in past one week, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown against “planned genocide of Kashmiri youth” on June 25.
In a joint statement, the JRL said the forces have resumed the Operation and when people resist to forces’ harassment action they are met “showered with pellets and bullets with a sole aim of killing them”.
“We can’t act as mute spectators over the brutal killings of unarmed protesters as since Eid, four innocent people including father of two minor siblings were killed by forces,” the JRL said in the statement.
strongly condemning the killings of civilians including Aijaz Ahmed Bhat of Akhiran, Nowpora, Muhammad Yousuf Rather of Srigufwara, Shahid Nazir of Sirhama and Yawar Nazir of Gassipora, the JRL said that more than 50 people have been left seriously injured, many of them with bullets and pellet injuries. “Many houses have been blasted and raised to ground,” it said.
