Why should JK wait for Delhi polls, asks Omar

Former Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah Monday sought answers from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party on why the J&K government formation shall wait for New Delhi elections to end.
“Will someone from @jkpdp or @BJP4India please tell us why we in J&K are being made to wait for DELHI election results for a govt here!” Omar tweeted, soon after chairing the party’s Core Group meeting which discussed the political scenario of J&K.
About a week ago, BJP had reportedly indicated it was willing to put Article 370 on the backburner with regard to J&K government formation but is “wary” of giving the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) a handle to beat it with at the prestigious Delhi election next month. BJP has also admitted that it can’t afford to let the Opposition go to town about the party “compromising its core agenda”.
PDP and BJP have been negotiating over power-sharing agreement following a hung verdict in the recent held Assembly polls, but deep ideological differences on issues such as Article 370, phased withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from the state and a dialogue with Pakistan have continued to be thorns in the talks.
Reports said the BJP was open to withdrawing the AFSPA from Jammu region to take care of the PDP’s sensitivities over the issue.
