Patient dies of swine flu, toll rises to 7

• 15 more test positive for H1N1 

One more person succumbed to H1N1 virus in SKIMS, Soura, taking the death toll to seven and 15 more tested positive for the swine flu on Tuesday.
“A patient, who had tested positive for H1N1 virus, died in SKIMS today. The patient was admitted in SKIMS as a case of brain hemorrhage on February 9. Later, he was tested positive for H1N1 also,” SKIMS spokesperson said in a statement.
The statement said 50 persons including residents and paramedics were administered anti-Swine flu vaccination today.
“Nine patients are admitted in isolation ward of the hospital and two patients, who are on ventilators, are being treated in ICCU,” it said.
The spokesperson said two patients have been discharged in last 24 hours. “Out of 66 samples in last 24 hours, 15 were found positive. 230 patients were seen in OPD today upto 2.30 pm,” the statement said.
It further said that SKIMS has procured 4000 H1N1 masks and is likely to receive 5000- 7000 Tamiflu tablets.
“The list of reagents and consumables and equipments urgently required for Influenza Laboratory at SKIMS Soura has been submitted to Principal Secretary to Governor of J&K,” added the spokesperson.
