Seeking Indian passport in Kashmir a compulsion: Hurriyat (G)

Seeking Indian passport in Kashmir a compulsion - Hurriyat (G)Hurriyat Conference (G) on Thursday while terming the row over issuance of passport to Syed Ali Geelani as ‘uncalled’ for said applying for the Indian passport in Kashmir is a compulsion.

“It is a simple issue that is trying to be made complicated. Indeed it is a compulsion for us to apply for an Indian passport from Kashmir. We have to use even Indian currency here. The debate being generated over the issuance of passport to Syed Ali Geelani is unfortunate and condemnable,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar told KNS.

He added that the amalgam would not beg for the passport as it is the right of every person to travel. “If the passport is denied to Syed Ali Geelani- it is indeed worst HR volition exhibited by the Indian state in Kashmir. How could issuance of the travel document to any person wanting to meet his ailing daughter become a TV debate and political parties trying to get their share out of it,” Akbar said, adding that despite curbs being imposed on Geelani’s movement, it is illogical that authorities want him to fulfill the procedure for the passport.

Government has to lift curbs on Geelani’s movement to claim that it would facilitate the issuance of vital travel document.
