Rains lash the valley

A number of roads were again inundated badly in Srinagar affecting vehicular and pedestrian movement after many hours of continuous rains, reports said on Wednesday.

Met sources have warned of heavy rain and thundershowers at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. “The weather will remain wet till June 28,” they said.

The Valley is receiving heavy rain today resulting in drop in the mercury. World famous health resort of Pahalgam, received highest 31.8 mm rainfall during the night and it was heavily raining there.

At Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, minimum temperature witnessed a drop of one degree after 10.8 mm rainfall.

Srinagar and adjoining areas received moderate rain, inundating a number of roads, affecting normal traffic and pedestrian movement. At some places, where there are no footpaths, pedestrians find it very difficult to walk due to rain water.
