95 kanal forest land retrieved in Akhnoor: Govt

The Forest Department today got vacated 95 kanals of Forest land during an anti-encroachment drive in Pangari area of Akhnoor tehsil.

95 kanal forest land retrieved in Akhnoor - Govt“A team of officials led by Sham Lal, Range Officer Kalidhar visited 24/K compartment at village Pangari tehsil Akhnoor and removed the encroachments”, an officials spokesman said, adding that “the staff of forest department faced stiff resistance but it succeeded in retrieving 95 kanal of forest land from the possession of 18 encroachers”.

The team dismantled boundary walls and removed the brush wood fencing put up by the encroachers, he added.

Meanwhile, Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu has directed the officers for repairing of boundary walls around the forest land. He has also called for maintaining strict vigil to thwart any attempts at encroaching forestland.
