Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway restored

The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was thrown open for traffic this evening even as heavy jam was witnessed on the 300-km arterial road.

The SSP also said vehicles had started moving on the Batote-Kishtwar road. He further said there would be two-way traffic on Thursday as weather had improved considerably.

Meanwhile, several link roads remained closed after torrential rain triggered landslides at several places. A house was also damaged in Udhampur district.

Various link roads in the district, including Udhampur-Ramnagar-Basatgarh road, Ramnagar-Latti road, Udhampur-Ghordi Barmeen road, Udhampur-Panchari road, Udhampur-Mongri road, Udhampur-Dubigali road, remained closed for traffic for the second day today even as the Public Works Department made efforts to make the road traffic worthy.

A house belonging to one Sansar Singh, resident of Dubgali area of Panchari tehsil, was totally damaged in the torrential rain. There was no loss of life in the incident.
