BGSBU’s MCA students accuse authorities of cheating
The MCA students of 2010-2013 batch of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri alleged that the university authorities fleeced them by charging extra Rs 5000 fee per student as placement charges.
The university authorities, at the time of admission asked us to pay additional Rs 5000 with Rs 2000 admission fee and Rs 25000 semester fee, as placement fee. Our batch had strength of 38 students,” students said.The students said that after the completion of our degree no company visited the varsity for placement purpose.
“None of the students of our batch got placed in any company as no company visited the varsity, in fact for past 5 years no placement took place in the university. So for what purpose they charge us the placement fee.” said Mohammad Rizwan, one of the students.
The students also said that during our 1st and 2nd semester we were taught “communications skills” as one of the subjects for which the university charged us additional fee.
Mohammad Rizwan had in 2014 filed an RTI, the copy of which is available with us , to get the information about the placement fee received by the varsity from the students of his batch and the details of the placement of the students.
The RTI had revealed that an amount of Rs1,90000 had been received as placement fee from 38 students of this batch, but the placement details of the students have not been provided.
“When we approached the then VC Prof IA Hamal he said that it is not possible to provide all the details due to certain reasons known to him,” Rizwan said.
Rizwan said that VC told us that the university is located in the border area that is why no company is willing to visit the varsity for placement purpose.
The students also alleged that during their project work they were forced to go to Chandigarh to do project at “CS Soft Solutions”.
“We were forced to pay Rs 11000 as project fee and Rs 6000 per month as hostel fee and Rs 18000 as semester fee. So for (our 6th semester) we have been made to pay fee in the university as well as at the CS Soft Solutions,” the students said.
