Reach TRC peacefully: Geelani to people

Appealing the people to come out in large numbers to take part in the scheduled ‘Million March’ program, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani Friday stressed the would-be-participants, especially youth, to remain peaceful, vigilant and disciplined all the way from their respective places.

“Start your journey at 10:30 am from your respective places for the scheduled Million March programme which is going to be held at TRC ground Srinagar tomorrow. I appeal the participating people especially youths to remain peaceful, vigilant and disciplined during the march and not let the opponents to succeed in their designs,” Geelani said in a statement.

He added that “Million March is not against any religion or community and our non-Muslim brothers need not worry about anything. They are an important part of our society and our brothers of human relation and Islam also guarantees the protection of life, property, honour, culture, religious beliefs and places of worship of the non-Muslim brothers. Islam doesn’t believe in force or coercion, the will of a human being is highly respected in Islam.”

The senior separatist leader has appealed all the non-Muslims including Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists to ‘continue their moral, social and political support to our national cause.’

 “We will be pleased if any non-Muslim brother will participate in Million March programme,” Geelani said.

“The Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir are duty bound to attend the march because it is against that rule in which our lives, property, honour, dignity, culture and even our religion is not safe,” he added.

While expressing his satisfaction and happiness over the enthusiasm shown by the people not only in Kashmir Valley but in the Chenab and Pir Panjal region also to participate in the November 7 ‘Million March’ programme, Geelani said, “Jammu and Kashmir is a single geographical entity and our demand for the right to self determination is for all those people who are permanent residents of this state.”

 Geelani said, “All the pro-freedom leadership including all those of our 23 constituents is in jails, police stations or in their houses. So the educated people have big responsibility to lead the people to the Million March venue and maintain discipline in the masses.”

“I appeal youth to remain peaceful and display extreme disciplined character in the Million March programme and do not indulge in any such activity which will give any chance to the government forces to use force,” he said.

He said that the government will use its entire power in “stopping our Million March programme but the

people should not get afraid of this and if they will not allow us to reach the program venue, our Million March programs will continue in future.”
