Restrictions in Srinagar areas today - Jamia ChaloRestrictions or undeclared curfew shall remain in place in several areas of Srinagar on Friday in view of the ‘Jamia Masjid Chalo’ call given by Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, police said on Thursday.

A senior police official, who wished to remain anonymous, said areas falling under police stations Rainawari, Nowhatta, Maharaj Gunj, Safa Kadal, Kralkhud and Khanyar shall remain under restrictions.

“There will be restrictions in Maisuma area of uptown Srinagar as well,” he said.

Mirwaiz has called for march to Jamia Masjid at Nowhatta here to commemorate the anniversary of Jammu martyrs of November 6, 1947.

“In view of the Prime Minister’s visit to J&K on Saturday, it was decided not to allow any march to Jamia Masjid on Friday. Consequently restrictions shall remain in place in identified areas,” the police official said.

In view of the PM visit, the government has already detained more than 200 separatist leaders and activists.
