Generic drugs: DAK censures Govt order

Supporting the implementation of effective Drug Policy, Doctors Association Kashmir Wednesday said the recent order by the present government asking doctors to write generic drugs will give legal cover to chemists not to sell brand drugs even if they would be cheaper than generic and thus deprive the patients of all benefits.
DAK spokesman, Dr Mir Mushtaq said no generic drugs should be prescribed for the patients till they are not made available in all government hospitals. Meanwhile, expressing concern over the violence against doctors, he said for the safety of medical staff ‘Medicare Personal Protection Ordinance’ should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
