In a series of separate road accidents across Jammu and Kashmir, four people lost their lives, and over 30 others sustained injuries within the past 24 hours. The incidents occurred in various districts, highlighting the urgent need for stricter road safety measures and driver vigilance.

Details of the Accidents

  1. Ramban District:
    • A pre-dawn accident near Banihal claimed one life and left nine others injured when a Tata Mobile vehicle carrying members of two Bakarwal families overturned and crashed into a railway bridge wall.
  2. Anantnag District:
    • A minor tourist lost her life after being struck by an unknown vehicle near the selfie-point in Pahalgam.
    • Another accident in the Sinthan Top area injured eight people traveling in a small commercial vehicle.
  3. Srinagar:
    • Two motorcyclists were critically injured in a collision near the All India Radio Kashmir flyover.
  4. Ganderbal District:
    • A three-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the Kullan Gund area.
  5. Bandipora District:
    • A tractor plunged into a gorge in the Duban area of Onagam, resulting in one fatality and leaving another injured.

Authorities’ Response

Police have registered cases and launched investigations into these incidents. A senior traffic police official urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, obey speed limits, and prioritize safety over reckless driving.
