Omar Abdullah Calls Out Dulat’s ‘Habit of Lies’ Over Article 370 Claims

Omar Abdullah Slams Dulat’s Claims as Fabrications for Book Sales

Srinagar, 17 April 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly criticized former RAW chief A.S. Dulat, accusing him of distorting facts to boost the sales of his latest book, The Chief Minister and the Spy. The book alleges that National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah privately supported the abrogation of Article 370—a claim that has sparked a political storm in the region.

Omar’s Response: A Scathing Rebuke

Omar Abdullah dismissed Dulat’s claims as baseless, stating, “It is Dulat’s habit to peddle lies to sell his books. In his first book, he spared no one, and in this one, he has left no stone unturned to humiliate Farooq Sahib.” He further remarked, “When you have friends like this, you don’t need enemies.” Omar also questioned PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s acceptance of Dulat’s claims, challenging her to address what Dulat wrote about her father in his earlier works.

Farooq Abdullah’s Reaction

Farooq Abdullah, the central figure in Dulat’s allegations, labeled the claims as a “cheap stunt” aimed at increasing book sales. He expressed disappointment, stating that the book is riddled with inaccuracies and sensationalism.

Mehbooba Mufti’s Take

Mehbooba Mufti, on the other hand, claimed that Dulat’s revelations were “nothing new” to her. She accused the NC of shifting stances for political gain, alleging that the party has historically prioritized power over principles.

Political Implications

The controversy surrounding Dulat’s book has reignited debates about the political dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the context of Article 370. The allegations have added fuel to the already charged atmosphere, with leaders from various parties weighing in on the matter.
