Omar mocks at BJP for ‘changing stance’ on Article 370

Wants PM to answer his queries in December 8 rally; Slams Congress for ‘misleading people’

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday mocked at the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) for its “changing stance on Article 370 and other core issues on the basis of which it won the Parliamentary elections.”  Omar said he hopes the Prime Minister NarendraModi would clear all issues at his Kashmir rally scheduled on December 8.

In a scathing attack, Omar said BJP has “forgotten all issues which helped it to form government in Delhi as barely seven months after they have taken a U-turn.”
“The party is talking in different voices. In Jammu, they talk about abrogation of Article 370 and in the Valley they say that if people want, it will remain there (in the Constitution),” Omar said at an
election rally while seeking support for party candidate from Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana, who filed his nomination from the constituency today.
Without naming NarendraModi and his address at ‘Lalkar Rally’ of December 1, 2013,  Omar said: “He came in a helicopter and promised people that he will  scrap  Article 370  if voted to power and even dragged my sister into the controversy by saying that she cannot have right to buy land in state due to this Article.”
“But after seven months in power BJP took a U-turn on everything they promised to the people then  by not even mentioning  about Article 370 in its ‘Vision Document’,” he said and quipped: “My sister still hopes that PM  will abrogate Article 370 and she will buy a piece of land here.”
Omar said for the past five and half years, “I keep raising my voice for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and they (BJP) opposed it but now they are in power and promising people of Kashmir that if BJP will form the next government in the state, it will revoke the Act.”
Taking a dig at the party, he said, “This is an old habit of BJP to talk in different voices at different parts of the state on controversial issues.”
“They talked about not promoting family rule in the state but again opted different yardstick while nominating party candidate for Nagrota assembly segment, who is brother of BJP state president and MP,” Omar said.
He expressed hope that Prime Minister NarendraModi would clear the air on all issues at his December 8 rally in Kashmir.
“I am sure at the December 8 rally in Kashmir, the Prime Minister will reply to all my questions and then things will become clear to people,” he said.
Omar also mocked at BJP over its claims during electioneering of the parliament polls about bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks.
“BJP came in power to bring back ‘black money’ and give countrymen their share and reduce inflation within 100 days. But nothing has happened so far and people including me are still waiting for crediting of Rs 15 lakh in their accounts which the party promised to give,” he said.
Omar also took a dig at Congress for “taking credit for the good work of coalition government in the state and putting blame of wrongdoings on NC.”
“Congress remained ‘unthankful’ toward people of the state who gave them mandate,” he said adding, “The leaders of this party  are now resorting to mudslinging at its own alliance partner with whom they enjoyed power for last six years.”
“Just seven months earlier, when Omar and his entire cadre were burning midnight oil to make Rahul Gandhi next prime minister, they did not see any fault in us,” he said. “The Congress leaders including MadanLal Sharma did not hesitate to share stage at  NC rally held here  that time but after the results they found every wrong thing in me and my party.”
Omar said, “According to Congress, whatever developmental work has taken place in the state, it was due to them and every wrongdoing was done by us (NC).”
“My former friend must not forget that in 2008 when they gave me the state, it was burning and people of Kashmir were not even willing to talk with the people of Jammu. But my government bridged that gap,” he said, adding, “Over these years, militancy has been reduced up to 70%, communal harmony maintained all over the state, crores of pilgrims and several lakh tourists visited here, which are few achievements of  sincere efforts of my government.”
Omar said: “If I had done anything wrong, I am answerable for my six years tenure but my Congress friends are liable for wrongdoings of last 12 years as they earlier run government with Mufti Muhammad Sayeed of PDP and later with me and also enjoyed top ministries.”
Omar said the Congress was “misleading the people of state and trying to create a divide. But they are wise enough to understand right and wrong.”
Appealing people to vote for Devender Singh Rana, he said, “Rana is not only the candidate of my party but also my elder brother who will definitely serve the people with full dedication.”
