PDP-BJP has plans to change demography of Kashmir, says Geelani
A week after the new government assumed office in Jammu and Kashmir, Huriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Monday held one hour long meeting with Abdul Basit Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi.
Geelani while confirming the meet with Basit and Deputy high commissioner Mansoor Ahmad said that he held a detailed discussion with them at his Malvia Nagar residence at New Delhi.
The senior separatist said that he urged Pakistan not to dilute its stand over the resolution of Kashmir and that new government in Jammu and Kashmir would in no way affect the Kashmir cause.
While hailing the role of Pakistan in providing what the Huriyat (G) chairman termed moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause, he said that he thanked Pakistan for its overall support to the ‘suppressed’ people of Kashmir while urging it not to change its stand over the ‘disputed territory’.
Geelani’s meet with the Pak High Commission office came after the foreign secretary level talks, held in the recent past between India and Pakistan. Earlier the talks were called off due with GOI warning Pakistan not to take separatist leadership of Kashmir on board.
“I told the Pak high commission that the people of Kashmir are thankful to Pakistan for extending support to the ongoing resistance movement. I urged Pakistan to continue support the suppressed people of Kashmir,” he said.
While commenting over the formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir, the senior separatist leader maintained that same cannot affect the veracity of the Kashmir issue. “All governments for us are same. There is no difference at all. The successive regimes can in no way affect our movement,” Geelani said.
However, the 81 year old octogenarian told KNS that the PDP-BJP bonhomie has been set by RSS which has its plans to change the demography of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. “They are hell bent to change the Muslim majority into a minority one. The cause of concern is that earlier the Muslim population of the state was 81 percent which now has squeezed to mere 68 percent. The new government want s to accord state citizen ship to the west Pak refugees in a bid t balance the vote share. We will never allow this to happen,” Geelani said while claiming that the Pak high commissioner gave patient hearing to his views and assured the Huriyat (G) chairman of Pakistan’s support to Kashmir cause.
Geelani also confirmed that he has been invited to attend a function on March 23 this year at Pak embassy in New Delhi.
