Mehbooba reaches Delhi, BJP hopeful
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti reached Delhi this afternoon to take part in the Budget Session that began today.
Mehbooba had yesterday cancelled her visit to Delhi following severe water crisis in the National Capital.
Her visit to Delhi, first after the death of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, is being viewed as politically significant.
The visit may open a way to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
On the first day of her visit to Delhi, sources said, Mehbooba did not interact with anyone till late evening.
“She neither phoned anyone nor held talks at JK House, Chanakyapuri, where she is staying,” said a source.
Mehbooba’s arrival is seen as a positive sign by the BJP, which was worried when the PDP chief had deferred her visit to the Capital last afternoon.
The BJP is hopeful that it would be able to convince her about the viability of the alliance government and its capacity to deliver in the coming months.
