Coalition govt lacks direction, vision: Omar Abdullah

Coalition govt lacks direction, vision - Omar AbdullahFormer Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today that the PDP-BJP government led by Mehbooba Mufti lacked “direction and vision” as there was no clarity on the industrial policy, Sainik and Pandit colonies and various other issues which had come to the fore in the last one month.
Omar said this while participating in the debate on motion of thanks to Governor’s address in the Assembly here today. He said the Governor’s address usually reflects the report card of the government and its vision for the next one year. However, there were only “superficial” things and “very less said” on the government in it, he added.
“The truth is that the government has no direction and no vision because it came to power under certain compulsion by forging an alliance with the BJP,” Omar said.
“You (PDP) have not been consistent for the last one year,” Omar said, pointing out that the party sought votes to keep away the BJP and NC, which had once been saffron party’s ally at the Centre. “How has the PDP joined hands with the BJP,” he asked, adding, “we can understand the constraints.” He observed that the “Agenda of Alliance” of the coalition government was not visible on the ground.
On setting up Pandit colony, Omar said: “We have to get back all those who left in difficult times — Kashmiri Pandits (KPs), Sikhs and Muslims”. He said that there was a need to get back Pandits to their respective places and not to colonies, like Jagti in Jammu, with all requisite facilities inside.
