Govt’s approach pushing youth towards militancy : Syed Ali Geelani
Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani today blamed the government’s approach and alleged injustices done by security forces for pushing the youth towards militancy.
“The Indian government’s approach and the injustices by government forces are dissuading our youth from the political struggle,” Geelani said in a statement in which he expressed anguish over yesterday’s killings in south Kashmir.
Five people, including three civilians, a policeman and a militant were killed in a shoot-out yesterday in Kulgam district.
The separatist leader said the people of Kashmir aspired for peace but said the “key to peace” lied with New Delhi. “If the rulers leave their rigidness and accept the ground realities and express willingness to fulfil the promises made to the Kashmiri people, then there will be no delay in return of peace to the state,” he said.
