#KathuaRapeMurder: Student protests erupt at Boniyar, Rafiabad, Delina, Sopore, scores injured during violent clashes

12 students were injured during clashes between students and the government forces on Thursday morning.
Kashmir Post has learnt that several students from local coaching centres were injured after government forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing here to disperse the protesting students.
A medico in SDH Shopian told Kashmir Post that twelve injured students were brought to the hospital, who
had pellet injuries out of which two were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment.

A civilian sustained injuries during the clashes that erupted between students and government forces in Sopore on Thursday morning.
The civilian was identified as Bashir Ahmad Baba son of Ghulam Mohi ud din Baba, 37 Chinkipora Sopore.
BMO Sopore told Kashmir Post said that one person was received at hospital with a skull injury this morning.
“He was hit in head by a stone during the clashes at Sopore and has been referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced treatment,” BMO Sopore told Kashmir Post.
Student protested had erupted in the town against the eight-year-old Kathua girl, who was raped and murdered inside a temple by the gang of eight Hindus in Rasana, Kathua.

Students from Government Higher Secondary School Boniyar Baramulla held a protest demonstration on Thursday morning against the Kathua rape and murder incident.
Earlier the district administration has asked the college and higher secondary schools of Baramulla and Sopore to suspend the classwork for a day.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed at Dangiwacha, Rafiabad in district Baramulla against the alleged thrashing of girl students by army on Wednesday.

A massive protest demonstration was held at Rohama, Rafiabad where students of Higher Secondary School marched through the market in solidarity with the eight-year-old rape and murder victim of Kathua.

There were some clashes in the area, however, Baramulla police said that there were no clashes in the area and vehicular movement was restored on Srinagar- Muzzafarabad road.

Eyewitness told Kashmir Post that girl students of Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore assembled at Iqbal Market Sopore and took out a peaceful protest rally in the town.
The protesting students were seeking justice for Kathua girl and capital punishment for culprits.
Holding placards that read “Hang the Culprits”, “Justice to Asifa”, the protesting students raised anti-government, anti-BJP slogans, and anti-India slogans.
They demanded capital punishment for the culprits involved in this heinous crime.

The rape and murder of eight-year-old Bakerwal girl, who was raped inside a temple, has created a humongous controversy in the state.
Choudhary Lal Singh has said that he attended the rally on party’s instructions.
“I and my colleague Chander Prakash Ganga attended Hindu Ekta Manch rally on the instructions of party president Sat Sharma,” Lal Singh told Kashmir Post
The Jammu Bar Association also backed the pro-rapist rally and backed the rapist.
The child was kidnapped on January 10. Over the next week, she was drugged, starved, repeatedly gangraped and then murdered.
It has been alleged that the crime was committed to warn off the Muslim nomadic community away from the areas belonging to Hindus.
A group of 49 retired civil servants wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, holding him responsible for what they called a “terrifying state of affairs.”
