
This weekend J&K to experince fresh spell of snow, rain: MeT
As Kashmir continues to remain under the grip of intense cold, the MeT office has predicted back-to-back western disturbances that could bring a fresh spell of snow and rain in the region Friday onwards.
MeT director Sonam Lotus said on Saturday, weather is expected to be cloudy with possibility of snow and rain. “From January 8 to 10, snowfall is likely in the higher reaches and rain could lash plains at many places of J&K,” he added.
Lotus said fog is likely to continue in plains of Jammu, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi till January 6.
The tourist resort of Pahalgam was the coldest place in the Valley and experienced a low of -9.2°C on Tuesday night.
Gulmarg witnessed another coldest night as temperature dropped to -8.4°C. Srinagar and Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of -5.2°C.
In Ladakh, Leh and Kargil districts witnessed bone freezing temperature at -17.4°C and -18.7°C, respectively.
