Mirwaiz put under house arrest

Mirwaiz had urged people to march to Eidgah here Wednesday in connection with the 24th death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone. “The restrictions will remain in place in seven police stations of Srinagar including Maisuma, Kralkhud, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Nowhatta, Zadibal and Khanyar,” an official of district administration Srinagar said.
Meanwhile Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest early Tuesday morning. His close aide and media advisor Shahid-ul-Islam was also put under house arrest this evening.
