Soldier killed, 3 injured in Chadoora gunfight

Militants flee, forces launch searches

An Army soldier was killed and three others injured in an ongoing encounter at Chadoora in district Budgam of central Kashmir, police said. 
A police officer said based on specific information, Army’s 53 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) of JK police cordoned Kaisarmulla area in Chadoora Monday afternoon. “We had information about presence of more than three militants in the area,” he said, adding, the trapped militants, as per their information, included a top militant commander active in South Kashmir. 
The police officer said as the searches began, hiding militants opened fire on the forces killing a Territorial Army soldier attached with 53 RR on the spot while three soldiers sustained injuries. 
Police identified the deceased soldier as SepoyMushtaq Ahmad Mir of Qazipora, Chadoora. The injured were identified as Sepoy S Joger, Sepoy Sandeep Kumar and SepoyTerath Kumar. He said injured soldiers were shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital. 
“The condition of soldiers is stable and they are under observation,” PRO Army Lt Col NN Joshi told Greater Kashmir. The encounter is on, he said.
Sources said that militants managed their escape from the spot and forces were now extending the cordon to more areas.
