Cable operators told to ensure digitization of services by yr end

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad (Anantnag), Tasaduq Jeelani today chaired a meeting with local cable operators to discuss the digitization of cable services in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner briefed the cable operators about the directions of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and J&K Government regarding transformation of existing cable service from analogue cable to Digital Addressable System (DAS) for which the revised deadline is fixed as December 31, 2015, an official statement said.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the cable operators to make a detailed plan of switching over to digital mode in their respective areas in a time bound manner.
Local cable operators were informed to furnish the details about the number of consumers and subscribers of their respective areas of operation to the committees constituted at Municipal, Council, Tehsil and District level.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the progress of digitization will be monitored weekly for which Local Cable Operators should submit their progress to the concerned Committee.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the cable operators that the district administration will give them all necessary help for smooth digitization of cable service. He directed for ensuring 75 percent digitization up to March 31.
