2010 killings: Hurriyat (G) demands registration of FIRs

Hurriyat Conference (G) Thursday expressed serious concern over the revelation made by the former police officer Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, demanding registration of FIRs against the former chief minister Omar Abdullah and the police and CRPF personnel who were directly involved in the killings in 2010.
“Omar Abdullah has many times accused Bukhari for killings of 2010 and today this fact has come to fore that all those killings were carried out on his (Omar’s) directions and he has offered promotions, perks and rewards to the murderers for all those killings. This situation demands that all those incidents should be investigated by an independent agency and the people involved in the war crimes should be held accountable. Hurriyat will try to explore other legal options for bringing the killers of innocent students of 2010 to justice,” the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat has flayed the politicians and media for portraying as ‘dangerous man’ the recently released amalgam senior leader Masarat Ahmad Bhat, threatening serious consequences in case of any harm to him.
Terming as extremely irresponsible, what he said, the remarks of politicians and media that Masarat Alam was a ‘terrorist and dangerous man, the Hurriyat spokesman in a statement warned that any kind of harm to him would have serious and horrible consequences and all its responsibility would be on the shoulders of the government.
“The Indian investigation agency NIA has no constitutional, legal and moral justification to interfere into the cases of Masarat Alam. The state high court has dozens of times termed the allegations leveled by the state government against Masrat as baseless and fake and have dozens of times ordered his release. Due to the special status of the state, firstly the NIA has no jurisdiction here and secondly they can’t reopen the cases once closed by the state high court,” the spokesman said, adding that “The situation in 2010 for which the Masarat Alam is being blamed was actually the public reaction against Machil fake encounter and the killing of many other innocent students.”
