One-way traffic on Highway

In view of frequent landslides and sinking of road at some places due to the recent torrential rains, the Traffic authorities have decided to allow one-way traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway till it is made roadworthy for two-way traffic and subject to improvement in weather conditions.

As per the advisory issued by Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Jammu, during traffic movement from Srinagar to Jammu, all Light Motor Vehicles, PSVs should cross Pantha Chowk by 9 am, Levdoora up to 12.30 pm and Jawahar Tunnel up to 2 pm.

Similarly, trucks and load carriers will be allowed to move towards Jammu if they cross Pantha Chowk up to 7 am, Levdoora by 1 pm and Jawahar Tunnel by 3 pm. No vehicle of any type will be allowed to cross Jawahar Tunnel beyond the cut-off time.
As per the advisory during vehicular movement from Jammu to Srinagar, LMVs/PSVs shall cross Nagrota by 8 am and Udhampur by 9.30 am. No PSV will be allowed to move towards Kashmir after the specified time, it said. Trucks/load carriers will only be allowed from Udhampur to proceed towards Kashmir till cut-off time of 1.30 pm to cross Jekhani Chowk Udhampur.

It is further informed that extension in cut-off time and permission for any vehicle to ply against the convoy will only be given by the Traffic police headquarters. However, ambulances carrying patients will be allowed.
