Hurriyat’s unity must be based on set principles: Geelani

Calls for protests after Friday prayers against death sentence to Morsi

Hurriyat’s unity must be based on set principles - GeelaniStating Hurriyat (G)’s hearts and doors were wide open for all the pro-freedom people, Syed Ali Shah Geelani Wednesday said unity among separatists groups must be based on set principles, agendas and strategy.
“No conscious person will be opposed to the unity but there must be defined and set principles, agendas and strategy for the unity. My first and last desire is that the freedom struggle of our nation has to be unambiguous and its goal and aim should be clear it should not suffer from any kind of confusion,” he said in his presidential address to his amalgam’s executive body (Majlis-e-Shoura) meeting held at Hyderpora in which heads or representatives of its 16 constituents participated.
Coming down upon PDP chief, Geelani said Mufti Mohammad Sayed had made an expensive deal with the BJP for the want of chief minister’s chair and he had exchanged the collective interests of the people of the state in this deal.
“The agreement between these two parties BJP and PDP is yet to be made public. Mufti Sahab had agreed upon the implementation of several sensitive matters but it has been kept secret and the coalition government had secretly started to work over these projects. He had succeeded in motivating the authorities in New Delhi that he will help them in every possible way but he needs some time for this,” Geelani said.
He added all the communal forces of India have united against Kashmir “so our nation too has to confront them in one voice.”
“And for this we have to move forward leaving aside all our sectarian, group and organizational differences. A strong message should travel from Kashmir to New Delhi that despite having different organizations and forums, when it comes to the Kashmir issue and the matter of our national identity, we all will fight collectively for the freedom struggle and to protect our religious identity,” he said.
Geelani said only two options left with the Kashmiri nation that is either to surrender before the military might of India or to continue their freedom movement at every cost and in every way. “We have chosen the second option and we will not accept anything less than complete freedom for the Kashmir dispute whatsoever sacrifice we have to give for that.”
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) executive body (Majlis-e-Shoura) meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in the state and Hurriyat (G)’s future course of action.
The participants of the meeting said the coalition PDP-BJP government was utilizing the services of state machinery to implement the “wicked and dangerous agenda of RSS in the state and they have started to work on their hidden policies of changing the demographic and elimination of the Muslim identity of the state.”
While terming the announcement of death sentence to former president of Egypt Mohammad Morsi as the worst example of the state terrorism, Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani appealed for peaceful token protest demonstration on May 22 (Friday) after the congregational prayers.
“We too are the oppressed people of an oppressed nation but by this protest we actually want to convey to the world that the death punishment to the president Morsi is not any internal issue of the Egypt, but it is the global war started against the Islam and the Islamists by the secular forces of the world and it will Insha-Allah be resisted and opposed in the every region of the world,” Geelani said.
