Reports said that several students were taken into custody during nocturnal raids on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. University sources informed that a scholar from English Department Muzamil Farooq Dar of Gandibagh Kakapora Pulwama was arrested in a late night raid by police near University gate and was shifted to unknown destination.
Reports said that a delegation of students while criticizing the police action against the students urged upon the Vice Chancellor to ensure the safety and release of the arrested students. “We encircled VC University when he was coming out from the University mosque. We brought the issue into his notice and if police continues to arrest students, we will certainly launch an agitation in the campus,” said a group of students. Despite repeated attempts, no official from University was ready to talk over this issue.
