‘Let us pledge to make Srinagar heaven for road users’

In a bid to streamline vehicular movement in the summer capital, the Traffic department has sought cooperation of commuters to strictly follow traffic rules.
‘Let us pledge to make Srinagar heaven for road users’SSP Traffic (City) Maqsood ul Zaman has urged commuters to “take a pledge this in this holy month of Ramadhan to make Srinagar heaven for road users.”
The SSP in his message states that road accidents in Srinagar are comparatively assuming a “monstrous dimension as every passing day scores of road mishaps of different classifications occur out of which some go un-noticed because of comprise amongst the parties.”
“Keeping in view almost all constants, lack of infrastructure, encroachments etc., against the burgeoning increase in vehicular population, it is incumbent upon all the traffic related agencies, directly or indirectly, including civil society, corporate social responsibility (CSR), religious organizations to contribute their bit to arrest growing traffic menace in a holistic manner by inculcating a sense of responsibility and restraint amongst the road users through awareness programs and other effective ways,” he states.
“Driving innocent people and self to dangers on roads is inhuman and against the spirit of any religious doctrine. This Ramadhan let us all realize the ill-effects, road arrogance bring to our society and pledge with all sincerity to exercise every restraint while on roads to avert mishaps as human safety and dignity is paramount to us,” the SSP states.
“On the enforcement side, the Traffic department has intensified its drive against violators with all its vigor and would continue its efforts unabated to come to the expectations of the all the concerned to restore an order of semblance on roads for which it is mandated with. A little effort in this direction over the last few days had stemmed the waywardness of two-wheeler riders, who contribute alarmingly to the road fatalities. You too, could contribute your bit by ensuring and abiding by to the following humble appeal / advisory for better traffic scenario particularly in Srinagar,” the SSP added.
