Illicit liquor seized in Kargil, 5 arrested
To check social evils in Kargil, District Police Kargil yesterday raided some dhabas at Kabbadi Nala and Byamathang and recovered 574 bottles of illicit liquor.
The police was accompanied by Baseej-e-Imam (The volunteer youth organization of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust)The accused persons namely Budha Bhadure, Dando Sharpa, Kumari Tamang, and Kanchi Tamang, residents of Nepal and Poshan Das from Kishtiwar, Jammu were arrested by police on spot.
Meanwhile police has lodged FIR against all the accused under Excise Act and further investigations are going on at Police Post Bazar Kargil.
Briefing a press conference about the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rahul Malik who is also supervising the operation said, “This was the common operation of Police and Public.”
He also said that he is very satisfied that people especially youth of Kargil are vigilant and “ready to combat social evil in the society”.
SSP Kargil also said that they will not tolerate such activities in Kargil especially during the month of Muharram.
We need public support to control such evils in future too, he said.
Baseej-e-Imam Vice President Ahmed Hussian Pashkum said, “We are very happy to cooperate with police to eradicate such evils from our society.”
