Hang the rapists of Asifa, demand raising from Chenab Valley, Kashmir, Kargil

Kashmir valley, the Chenab region of Jammu and Kargil region of Ladakh Monday witnessed widespread protests seeking death penalty to the rapists and murderers of eight-year old nomadic girl in Kathua.
The students from Central University of Kashmir held protests in Press Enclave here where they waved placards and shouted slogans.
“No civilized society will tolerate people who organize pro-rapist rally. The world is watching,” said Ashfaq Ahmad, a student.
“It is shame that now the women are not safe even at sacred places like temples. We condemn those who made an attempt to impede the course of justice,” said Menaal, a female student.
All J&K Ladakh students association held a protest at Residency Road here. The protestors raised slogans and disrupted vehicular movement.
During the day, around a dozen student, employees and civil society groups held similar protests at Press Enclave here with similar demand.
Irrigation employees federation and PHE employees forum organized a protest at Rajbagh.
Protests were also held at Kashmir University, SKUAST-K, Degree College Islamabad, CD Hospital Srinagar and other places.
Students at Vitasta Law College Nowgam organized a protest demanding strict action against lawyers in Jammu who according to them “brought shame to their profession.”
Thousands of students from educational institutions including Government Degree College Doda in Chenab Valley staged a strong protest, demanding justice for the victim.
The students were seen holding placards depicting different messages for justice in the case of eight year old girl’s rape and murder.
Students in Bhadarwah also staged massive protests.

HCBA:
Members of Kashmir High Court Bar Association held a protest march in Srinagar as a mark of solidarity with the victim of Kathua rape and murder case.
The protestors led by HCBA president Advocate Main Qayoom marched from High Court complex via Jahangir-Chowk, Clock Tower back to High Court.
They raised slogans against Jammu Bar Association for trying to shield the culprits.
Bar president Mian Qayoom said, “High Court should transfer the case to itself. Atmosphere is not conducive in Kathua for holding a trial in the case.”
Qayoom said quantum of punishment in the case should not be less than death.
The J&K government has appointed two special public prosecutors, both Sikhs, for the trial as the case has attained communal overtones. The 8 year old victim who was raped and murdered is a Muslim and all the accused mentioned in the charge-sheet are Hindus.

Anantnag:
Bar Association Anantnag (Islamabad) also held a protest rally in the south Kashmir town.

Ganderbal:
Bar Association Ganderbal strongly condemned the attack on lawyer Talib Hussian who initially spearheaded the campaign for the victim.
The Bar extended full support to lawyers Talib Hussain and Deepika Singh Rajawat.

SKUAST Shuhama:
Srinagar, Apr 16: Veterinary doctors and students staged a protest demonstration at faculty of veterinary science and animal husbandry Shuhama Alasteng.

Palhallan:
Students of higher secondary school Palhallan held protest for demanding justice for the 8 year old victim.
“Justice delayed means justice denied. We want the accused to be hanged,” said Sohail Farooq, a student.

Bandipora:
Amid incessant rains, traders federation Bandipora staged a protest against the horrific rape-and- murder of Kathua.
The protest was also joined by Employees Joint Action Committee, Civil Society Bandipora and transporters.

Sopore::
Students of Dangarpora Higher Secondary School Sopore held protests against the Kathua rape and murder. The students shouted anti-government and anti-BJP slogans.

Kargil:
Thousands of people took part in a protest rally in Kargil demanding justice for the victim child who was brutally raped and murdered in Kathua. The protest was organised by Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT).
The protest started from Jamia Masjid Kargil and passing through main bazar culminated at Lal Chowk wherein the speakers condemned the heinous crime which has shaken the society.
Meanwhile, president Anjuman Jamiat Ullama Asna Ashriya Kargil, Sheikh Nazir Ul Mehdi Mohammadi told a press conference that people of Kargil were with Gujjars and Bakerwals in this fight.
He condemned the raising the issue of “increased Muslim population in Ladakh” by Ladakh Budhist Association and some Kashmiri Pandit organizations at Jammu recently.
“Muslims are already in majority in Ladakh region,” he asserted.

Budgam:
Similar protest were held at government boys degree college Beerwah in Budgam district. Chairman ‘We Volunteers’ Malik Asif while condemning the rape incident, urged the authorities to take harsh steps to punish those involved in this barbaric act.
