Local media gagged in Kashmir
In a surprising move, police late on Saturday night prohibited publication of local newspapers, here in Valley.
Police team arrived at the printing presses of most of the local daily newspapers and asked the managements not to publish the newspaper for Monday. Though no written orders were issued to the media groups, the managements were verbally asked not to publish the newspapers.
However, officials expressed ignorance over the police directives.
Earlier in the day cable TV operations and mobile internet were shut as “prevention measures to avoid fallout of hanging of Afzal Guru”
