Geelani arrives on March 3

Hurriyat (G) dares NC to accept Geelani’s challenge

Flaying the statement of a National Conference (NC) legislator that “reason for all troubles was Syed Ali Shah Geelani,” Hurriyat (G) Sunday dared the NC to accept the challenge to know whether people prefer to be with mainstream or separatists.

“The statement made by one of the NC leaders reflects frustration,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman said. “Geelani doesn’t need any introduction neither does he need anybody to highlight is contribution. If NC is so confident that people are with them, the party chief (Chief Minister Omar Abdullah) should accept our challenge to test the waters.”
Geelani had earlier challenged Chief Minister to allow the former to reach Lal Chowk and lift the police and security for just one hour to “know the reality.” The Hurriyat spokesman said NC was a party known for its “anti-people” policies.
“The NC is equally responsible for the hangings of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru. It is the same party responsible for slapping PSAs on youth and leaders,” the Hurriyat spokesman said. “The NC at times, praises New Delhi and sometimes showers praises on the forces for its own political survival.”
The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said the ruling NC-Congress coalition was a party of “daily-wagers”, and that Hurriyat doesn’t want to enter into any debate with them. “But to put the records straight, it has to be made clear that Hurriyat won’t sell the blood of thousands of martyrs, honor or hundreds of women. Geelani will continue to speak the truth,” he said.
Pertinently, NC legislator and former minister Aga Ruhullah had yesterday accused Geelani of being the reason for all troubles in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat spokesman strongly condemned the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat (G) chairman and JKLF chief Yasin Malik. He also demanded immediate release of all separatist leaders, who were put behind the bars after the hanging of Guru.
