In Jammu, Amit Shah discusses ‘Mission 44 plus’

Summons party MLAs, seeks feedback on JK’s political scenario

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah Sunday sought a detailed feedback from his party MLAs about the political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Soon after his arrival in Jammu this afternoon, Shah summoned the party MLAs to have a detailed review of the prevailing political scenario in the State and explore the possibilities with regard to achieving the party’s ‘mission 44 plus’ in the forthcoming Assembly elections,” sources told Greater Kashmir.
The BJP chief, they said, emphasized upon the legislators to “keep up the momentum of the Parliamentary elections and be in regular touch with their constituencies.”
“Shah briefly inquired from the MLAs about their performance in their respective constituencies and also asked them about the prospects of their winning in the upcoming elections,” the sources added.
Sources said the BJP chief also inquired about the preparations that the MLAs have made for the Autumn Session of the State Assembly beginning in Kashmir on Monday.
“The legislators were directed to go to the House prepared and be proactive while raising the issues of refugees, migrants; unemployment and corruption,” they said.
Soon after his meeting with the MLAs, Shah reportedly held a meeting with the party’s Core Group in the State.
Earlier, Amit Shah was welcomed by the BJP’s J&K Unit on his maiden visit to the State after assuming the charge of the BJP president. Soon after his arrival at the Jammu Airport at around 2 pm, Shah was taken to the State Guest House in a big rally. The party workers on motor-cycles and cars, holding party flags and banners, escorted Shah amid intense sloganeering. Dr Jatindra Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma—both MPs of Jammu region—MLAs and other state office bearers were present on the occasion. The Jammu City was decked with hoardings, banners and posters of the party, especially along the route leading to the State Guest House. The district administration, in view of the large turnout of people, made diversions on several routes to avoid traffic mess.
