Geelani leads funeral prayers in absentia at Hyderpora

Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday led funeral prayers in absentia for school children killed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan at Peshawar yesterday.
Geelani, who was under house arrest, gave slip to police and managed to reach Jamia Masjid Hyderpora. “Geelani sahib then led the funeral prayers in absentia for children killed in the Peshawar massacre,” a spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said.
“I condemn this barbaric and cowardly act which is against humanity. Such insanity and savagery should be stopped. Killing in the name of Islam or Jihad is not Islam. Such barbaric acts are unjustified. We stand with the people of Pakistan and share the grief of the families who lost their loved ones in this brutal attack,” Geelani said.
Elaborating, he said, Islam does not preach terrorism. “And killing innocents is not Islam This cowardly behavior by terrorists attacking innocent children is against humanity. We strongly condemn this barbaric act which is aimed to make Pakistan weak,” he said.
