‘Influential’ Non-locals Hold PRC’s (Permanent Resident Certificates)
As per the reports coming from Jammu, some 130 non-locals have been found holding Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) much to official inaction.
Majority of PRC holders are said be the ‘powerful’ people of Jammu, which have availed the certificates by cashing their influence, including “bribing the officials”.
The issue that is likely to snowball into a major controversy earlier saw the state government sweeping the issue under rug when the reports of PRCs issuance surfaced at school level.
However, Jammu and Kashmir State Subject Commission (JKSSC) has declared nearly 130 persons, residing in plush areas of Jammu owning multi-crore properties, in possession of fake PRCs. It was reported that some top notch businessmen figured in the list tried their influence to stop the issue from getting press.
But once JKSSC—reportedly feeling pressure from certain quarters—forwarded the list to Revenue Department, the rot came to forth. Now, it will be interesting to see how PDP-BJP government will deal with the issue.
