Panic stricken traders shift stocks from city centre
Panic stricken traders are shifting their stocks in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas fearing spill over of the waters in the river Jhelum
Late night reports reaching Kashmir Reader said that the traders have reopened their shops in Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Gani Khan, Hari Singh High Street and other market places and are shifting their stocks to safer places in view of the swelling water level in the river Jhelum.
The rising water level also prompted the residents to shift their belongings to the upper stories.
According to Irrigation and Flood Control department, at Sangam gauge, the water level was recorded at 26.60 feet at 11 pm Thursday. Similarly, Ram Munshi Bagh gauge was above the danger level at 21.60 feet and Asham at 14.00 feet, 1 feet below the danger mark.
