Don’t talk economics, announce political initiative on Kashmir: Mirwaiz to Modi
Reiterating that Kashmir issue was a political problem, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday asked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a political initiative to resolve the dispute.
“Stop hacking the leaves of the Kashmir issue by talking economics and administration, but focus on hitting at the root of the problem,” Mirwaiz said while addressing the Prime Minister.
“Kashmir is not an economic or administrative problem but a political issue. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee realised it fully and started an engagement with Pakistan and Kashmiris,” said the Mirwaiz while addressing worshippers at Chrar-e-Sharief.
He said Kashmir doesn’t need an economic package but a political initiative.
“Vajpayee had realized it in the later years of his tenure and he tried to address the issue by initiating dialogue with Pakistan and Kashmiris,” reminded the Mirwaiz.
