Night temperatures improve in valley
Night temperatures across Kashmir Valley improved due to a cloudy cover although the minimum temperatures remained below freezing, the Met Office said on Thursday.
The minimum temperature was minus 0.6 degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Thursday while it was minus 2.7 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam and minus 10.2 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, an official of local Met department told IANS.
The minimum temperature was minus 12.6 degrees Celsius in Leh and minus 14.2 degrees Celsius in Kargil town of Ladakh region, the official said.
“Srinagar had its coldest night of the season this season so far at minus 3.7 degrees Celsius yesterday (Wednesday) while the minimum temperature on Thursday improved to minus 0.6 degrees Celsius,” the official said.
In Jammu region, the minimum temperatures were 8.0 degrees Celsius in Jammu city, 7.6 degrees Celsius in Katra, 2.7 degrees Celsius in Batote, minus 0.4 degrees Celsius in Banihal and 0.8 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah.
Dry, cold weather has been forecast in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 36 hours.
