Now, Aadhaar card can be used as ID proof
In a significant decision, the state government today decided to officially recognise the Aadhaar number being given to residents of the state as valid proof of identity as well as proof of address for availing various services.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) here, the government asked all departments to ensure that the Aadhaar number is adopted as a valid document for identity proof and address proof.
“The Government of India has established the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for issuing the Aadhaar number to all citizens on demand. The Information Technology Department, in coordination with the Registrar General of the India Census Department, is functioning as the Nodal Department to carry out enrolment of citizens for giving Aadhaar number to them. At present, the enrolment is going on throughout the state,” the order read.
