Measures to improve tourism underway - Nirmal SinghDeputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the Bani Basohli areas of Kathua possessed huge potential for tourism and adventure sports and steps were being taken to bring the area on the tourist map. He was laying the foundation of a tourist hut at Kranwara area in Kathua district here today.
Measures are underway to upgrade the existing infrastructure and create new assets to provide good facilities to tourists visiting these areas, he said. Singh also added that a community hall would be constructed in Kranwara with all modern facilities. He reviewed the functioning of various departments and directed officers to ensure that people get proper delivery of all the essentials. He said officers should maintain a close liaison with the people of the area so the day-to-day problems could be redressed within the shortest possible time and development activities speeded up.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government was committed to boost tourism infrastructure in the state by augmenting tourist facilities and that several historic initiatives had been undertaken while many more were on the anvil.
