Travel firm owner held for duping Hajj aspirantsThe J&K Police has arrested the owner of Al-Hajeej Tour and Travels – the main accused of swindling crore of rupees by duping Haj aspirants in 2011 and 2012.
Fabiyan Wahid Gilkar, the owner of Al-Hajeej Tour and Travels, was arrested by the J&K Police from Delhi. He was at large and was not attending the court upon which warrants were issued against the accused persons.
A police spokesman said they got an information that the accused was trying to flee to Dubai. “Acting on this information, a police party of the Khanyar Police Station was deputed to Delhi to arrest the accused. After arresting him, he was brought Srinagar today,” the spokesman said. A lookout notice was also issued by the court as Gilkar was not attending the court hearing.
The Al-Hajeej Tour and Travels was accused of duping and cheating over 500 people in 2011 and swindled a staggering Rs 10 crore. Gilkar was arrested in the case and was later granted interim bail. But in 2012, he again duped Haj aspirants
“ There was two cases registered against main accused Gilkar who was wanted in a case of 2011 and 2012 which related to cheating on pretext of providing private Haj and Umrah services by Al Hajeej Tour and Travels. Nine more cases were registered in different police stations of Srinagar against this company on the same allegations,” the spokesman said. The challan of these cases were produced before the court.
